ESRA3 Final Event and the ESRA 10 Years Event

On June 23 and 24 2025, ESRA had the honour of hosting two major events in Brussels: the ESRA3 Final Event and the ESRA 10 Years Event to celebrate a decade of global road safety insights and impact. The event was hosted at the building of the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport in Brussels.

We welcomed many of our international partners and stakeholders to look back on the key findings of ESRA3 and a decade of global road safety research. We launched the ESRA3 Final Report and the new ESRA1-2-3 dashboard, explored lessons learned, and set the stage for the future with the introduction of ESRA4.

Many interesting speakers reflected on ESRA from different perspectives at the ESRA 10 Years Event. We learned about ESRA data use in Africa (Luca Persia), Latin America (Jesús Monclús González), Asia (Yasuhiro Shiomi), the link with European road safety policy making (Sarah Lynch), national policy examples from Belgium (Anne Vandenberghe) and Portugal (Alain Areal), and the link with other road safety projects: ERSO (George Yannis) and TRUST (Susanne Kaiser).

A heartfelt thank you to the ESRA Steering Group partner organizations (BASt (Germany), DTU (Denmark), IATSS (Japan), University Gustave Eiffel (France), ITS (Poland), KFV (Austria), NTUA (Greece), PRP (Portugal), SWOV (the Netherlands) and TIRF (Canada)), the many ESRA National Partners, and to all participants for their presence, contributions, and continued commitment to making roads safer around the world.

We also gratefully acknowledge the support of the sponsors of this event: the Belgian Federal Public Service for Mobility and Transport, FERSI Road Safety Research, and Vias institute – and extend a sincere thank you to the Belgian Federal Public Service for Mobility and Transport for hosting our events in Brussels.
